Boys’ soccer
Half Moon Bay 3, Westmoor 0
Leading 1-0 at halftime, the Cougars added two more in the second to post the Ocean Division shutout over the Rams.
An unassisted Omar Valencia gave HMB (2-1 PAL Ocean, 2-1 overall) the lead at the break, before Max Magana and Kaleb Eisen added to the lead. Soren Brown and Anthony Sarabia earned the assists.
Westmoor falls to 0-2 in Ocean play and 0-2 overall.
San Mateo 5, Oceana 0
The Bearcats have exploded out of the gate to start the Ocean Division campaign, adding a rout of the Sharks to their resume.
San Mateo (3-0 PAL Ocean, 4-1 overall) got goals from five players and assists from four others. Erik Morales supplied a goal and an assist for the Bearcats, with Antony Navarr, Rohan George, Nick Leal and Edy Perez Mayan also finding the back of the net.
Ali Garcia Santiago, Chinmay Manakkattil, Jeongwoo Park and Benjamin Contreras all picked up assists.
Ocean falls to 1-2 in Ocean play and 1-2 overall.
Capuchino 3, Terra Nova 0
The Mustangs picked up their first Ocean Division win of the season with the shut out of the Tigers.
Edwin Garfias scored twice, with Angel Rosales rounding out the scoring for Capuchino (1-2 PAL Ocean). It was Terra Nova’s first loss of the season, as the Tigers fall to 1-1-1.
Menlo School 2, Sequoia 1
Declan Sitter scored his second goal in as many games to help the Knights to the non-league win over the Ravens.
Rafe Weiden set up Sitter for the game-winning goal in the 55th minute. Blake Putanec opened the scoring in the first half for Menlo (2-0 overall) as the two were tied at 1-all at the break.
Sequoia falls to 2-2-1 on the season.
In other action ...
El Camino (2-0-1 PAL Ocean, 2-0-1 overall) and Jefferson (0-2-2) played to a scoreless draw.
Girls’ soccer
Mercy 4, Oceana 1
The Bears scored a brace in each half to beat the Sharks for their first win in a non-league meeting.
Freshman Isela Santana had a nice coming out party for Mercy (1-2), scoring a hat trick. Laila Podesta had the other goal for the Bears, while Kylie Auger, Lilana Klingler and Khloe Rodriguez had assists.
Sacred Heart Prep 4, Menlo-Atherton 1

Lauryn Masetti netted a hat trick to lead Gators past the crosstown rival Bears in a non-league game.
Masetti scored twice in the firs half off assists from Nathalia Herrera and Sarina Yu. Masetti then set up Herrera to open the second-half scoring, before rounding out her day with her third goal off an assist from Addy Davis.
St. Francis 6, Woodside 0
The Wildcats went up against the CCS power Lancers and were saddled with their first loss of the season.
It was equal opportunity win for St. Fracis (3-0) as the Lancers scored three goals in each half.
Woodside falls to 3-1-1 overall.
Girls’ basketball
Lowell 57, San Mateo 35
The Bearcats suffered their first loss of the season, falling behind the Cardinals 10 in the opening quarter and were never able to recover.
San Mateo (5-1) trailed 18-8 after the opening quarter, but stabilized in the second to trail only 26-16 at halftime. But Lowell (3-1) used a 20-point third quarter to outscore the Bearcats 31-19 in the second half to pull away for the win.
Bella Fong led San Mateo in scoring for the sixth straight game, finishing with 15. Lowell was led by Dylan Mac’s game-high 17 points.
Westmoor 49, San Lorenzo 5
The Rams outscored the Grizzlies 23-0 in the first half to cruise to the non-league win.
Westmoor (3-4), which led 31-3 at half, added 18 more in the third to put the game away as the Rams shut out San Lorenzo (0-5) in two of the four quarters.

Summit Shasta (1-0 PSAL, 4-2 overall) opened PSAL play with a 63-17 win over Kehilliah (2-1).
Vallejo (2-5) handed Woodside (2-2) its second loss in a row, 54-40.
Boys’ basketball
Summit Shasta 84, Kehilliah School 50
The Black Bears picked up their first win in emphatic fashion with the rout of the Rams in the Private School Athletic League opener for both.
Summit Shasta (1-0 PSAL, 1-2 overall) scored 23 points in the first quarter, followed by 26 points in the second to lead 49-16 at the break. The Black Bears then added 26 more in the third to lead 75-37 going into the fourth.
Kehilliah falls to 0-1 in PSAL play and 1-2 overall.
In other action ...
Gunn (3-1) topped Mills (1-2), 61-47 in a non-league matchup.
