Luke Bottari, Serra football. The Padres fell 41-22 to Serra-Gardena in Saturday’s season opener at St. Francis-Mountain View. Bottari joined esteemed company nonetheless. The senior quarterback was 18-of-28 passing for 200 yards, and in doing so surpassed the 4,000-yard career passing mark. He is just the second-ever Serra quarterback to do so, and now needs just 174 yards to surpass the all-time program record of 4,266 set by Leki Nunn in 2016.

Dylan Neeley, Burlingame football. The Panthers marched to a convincing victory in last Friday’s non-league opener 34-7 over Everett Alvarez-Salinas. Burlingame held its guests at Umland Stadium scoreless through the first three quarters, and Neeley was a big reason why. The senior defensive tackle totaled four solo tackles, including one hurry and three quarterback sacks.
