Redwood City rallied late, overcoming a 2-0 deficit with two runs in the fourth, three in the fifth and one in the sixth to top San Carlos in an elimination game at Middlefield Ballpark in Palo Alto.
The sixth-inning run loomed large as San Carlos rallied for three runs in the bottom of the inning to close to within a run, but Tanner Jarolimek came out of the bullpen to close it out.
RWC tied it in the fourth after Jacob Erskine produced a sacrifice fly when Matthew Garrino scored on a wild pitch. Then in the fifth, Nico Cardenas put RWC ahead with a two-run double to left to plate Lucas Fairbairn and Wyatt Tetley. Garrino paced RWC with two hits. San Carlos’ Jesse Pinelli led all hitters with a 3-for-3 night.
RWC advances to meet Palo Alto in an elimination game Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
San Carlos posted a 1-2 record in the tournament. Their roster includes Pinelli, Austin Perna, Wren Pitstick, Korbin Saber, James Kaufmann, Dez Fischer, Nick Honeck, Colt Currie, Charlie Fisher, Keiran Smith, Patrick Gustafson and Luke Macuga.

Palo Alto 6, San Mateo National 0
Palo Alto starting pitcher Matt Chen allowed seven hits through 5 1/3 innings, and reliever Logan Lai allowed two more in the sixth, but the two managed to combine on a nine-hit shutout in an elimination game against San Mateo National at Middlefield Ballpark.
National stranded eight baserunners in the game, and had a runner thrown out at home on a double by Jake Spurgeon in the second.
Palo Alto jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first. Lai got his team on the borad with an RBI triple to score Matt Chen. Zachary Silverman followed with an RBI single, and he scored on an RBI double by Timothy Choi. Palo Alto added two runs in the third and one in the sixth. Silverman led the way going 3 for 3 with an RBI, Lai was 2 for 3 with a double and a triple, and Paul Cordova IV added two hits.
National was paced by Dylan Lee’s 3-for-3 night.
Palo Alto advances to meet Redwood City in the elimination bracket Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
San Mateo National went 1-2 in the tournament. Their roster includes Lee, Spurgeon, Peter Cruz, Joe Diamond, Alexander Griggs, Cole Koboyama, Vincent Leishman, Ian McGoldrick, Kai Snyder, Ryan Toensing, Nicolas Torres and Colin Wu.
