Editor,

I am writing about Sue Lempert’s column composed entirely of attacks on Supervisor Noelia Corzo (“Will Noelia Corzo have an opponent in 2026?” in the March 11 edition).

Thanks for your letter, Ms. Merrick. I’d encourage you to spend 30 seconds reading the other LTE’s in today’s edition of the DJ to become more educated about Ms. Corzo and her hijinks. BTW, nice effort at adding racism to your letter, but these days, no longer effective.

That is the best LTE of today "the criminalization of normal adolescent behavior by children", Normal, you say? Ask any teacher if talking back, physical threats and refusing to adhere to classroom behavior standards should now be considered normal or acceptable? Any wonder, Ms. Merrick, that teachers are giving up and just don't care anymore? Perhaps standard in your household, Ms. Merrick?

Ms Merrick, I agree, Noelia Corzo has been a refreshing voice on the BoS. Sue Lempert has no understanding of the issues. I also find it interesting that people with certain political leanings refuse to understand what racism is. Working on issues of systemic racism, such as the school to prison pipeline we have set up for BIPOC children, is important. She wanted police officers removed from the districts’ middle schools, yes! Good for her! Sue should engage in conversation in order to understand the root issues.
