Editor,

If the person does not fit your agenda, change the rules. McConnell and Trump kept Obama’s Supreme Court nominees out of office by changing the rules. The Board of Supes now are trying to change the County Charter (the County Constitution) to serve their purposes. If an elected official is performing poorly the established procedure is a recall. I guess the board is not confident the allegations against the sheriff would stand the light of day in a recall election.

Good morning, George

I disagree. It appears the Board of Supervisors is very confident in Judge Cordell's substantiation of corruption at the top levels of our Sheriff's Office. What is your take on Judge Cordell's report?

Last week, Ken and Laura Smith stated their preference for a recall instead of a charter amendment in an LTE titled, "Board of Supervisors' planned power grab." I posted the following in response to their letter... "Here’s the great thing about our democracy. Everyone should respect your opposition to a March 2025 charter amendment. If you believe a recall is the better way to remove a corrupt sheriff… that’s totally OK. So, I’m wondering… when do you plan to start a recall campaign?"

Same question to you... when do you plan to start a recall campaign?

Mr. Galan, didn’t Harry Reid first deploy the nuclear option for the filibuster for executive branch appointments and judicial nominations, after being warned he was making a decision Dems would regret? Maybe it’s time for Republicans to now pack the court, eh? As for the “As the Sheriff’s World Turns” soap opera in our backyard, I’m happy to keep watching until it comes to a merciful end. No matter how quickly or slowly, but let’s not reward Corpus with a golden parachute. Perhaps golden handcuffs?
