Editor,
Americans are losing faith in our Supreme Court, and it’s easy to see why.
The nine justices on the Supreme Court are the only federal judges not bound by a code of ethics. It’s up to the justices to self-police on ethical issues, and they want to keep it that way.
That’s why nothing happened when Clarence Thomas didn’t recuse himself from Jan. 6 cases that could have directly implicated his wife. That’s why nothing happened when America found out Samuel Alito more than likely leaked a decision about reproductive health care to anti-abortion activists. And that’s why nothing happened when it was revealed that Chief Justice Roberts’ wife has earned millions of dollars recruiting for law firms with business before the Supreme Court.
It doesn’t have to be this way. Congress has a duty to act as a check on the Supreme Court and restore faith in our judicial system. They can do that by creating a code of ethics for the Supreme Court.
The highest court in the land should be held to the highest standard. It’s time to demand that Congress hold the Supreme Court accountable.

The Constitution's Framers structured the Constitution to promote the separation of powers and protect the federal courts from undue influence by Congress and the executive branch. Among the federal courts, the Constitution grants the Supreme Court special status.
Rational Americans have faith in their Supreme Court because they live in a country controlled by law, not by the whims of an emotional court of public opinion. And that is also the reason no one is punished for implications nor accusations.
There are clearly arguments for both sides of this issue.
Can the present system work for both sides? Congress has the authority to pass legislation that may amend a SCOTUS ruling. Congress is also the only entity that can impeach and remove jurists for bribery, high crimes and misdemeanors.
With the Court packed with Catholics, there is already more than enough "faith", - which of course is a good part of the problem! Why aren't non-believers better represented? That's a group larger than any religious category, even in our somewhat backwards country!
Dirk: Do you question President Obama and President Biden’s intelligence, as well as the intellect of those they selected for the SCOTUS?
"Lack of ethics from Congress is wilfully ignored!" cry the people who support George Santos.
Yes Jorg, we should have more AA light weights on the Court that were selected by Obama and Biden. They are the true representatives of our dumbed-down population.
If everyone who wanted to move to Kentucky moved to Kentucky, California would be better off.
Would/should increase the average IQ in both states.
Any why is that? Care to elaborate?
You want to change the entire American system thats been operating more or less on a net positive up until 2+ years ago because of your selective outrage. Your entire premise is that you are angry with the historic operational method of the American Supreme Court (noting J6 + abortion as primary concerns hits that you are emotionally compromised) and you think there should be more micromanaging by people not educated on the same level as the justices themselves. You dont assign an engineer to fly the plane. You dont apply the same set of constraints to a mayor as you do the president. The facts that the Supreme Court are life appointments with no oversight from the other branches are fundamental to the function of our country and the continuity of our legal history. Ya know....checks and balances....we learned this in 5th grade. But common core has made our kids and their so-called custodians into proverbial slugs. Your outrage should not be taken seriously because you only want to hold one "side" accountable. Wrong is wrong and right is right no matter what light you see it in. When the only tool you have is a blue hammer everything looks like a red nail. Where is this energy for Nancy Pelosi -Diane Feinstein- Chucky Schumer - Hillary/Bill? All i ask is people be fair and impartial when dealing with immorality and ethics. Lady Justice is blind - not emotional and pedantic. The fact that one of these justices cant or refuses to define what a woman is should be the most troubling thing to any sane person. But it seems today like sanity is thrown to the wayside in favor of giving people safe spaces to coddle their predatory ideas that are disguised as altruistic. "Democracy" has become a proxy word for control and "political correctness." Bunch of indoctrinated Bolsheviks and they dont even know it. The perfect drones. I should have been smarter and moved to Kentucky with my brother.
Then move. Bye, bye.
Ah, yes, the quality of insight and commentary we’ve come to expect from GE52 (as well as others afraid to face the present). Meanwhile, the lack of ethics from Congress (as well as state and local legislators) is willfully ignored. Legislators need to take care of their own house before telling anyone else how to run their house. Perhaps legislators could first find someone to help one of our SC justices learn the definition of a woman… This is one reason Americans are losing faith in our SC justices, not the SC.
As usual, hilarious post!
GE52: Critics of Justice Brown Jackson for her response to the childishly silly question about definition of women, make me wonder what do they know about women, if anything at all?
If anything at all, she should have responded more sarcastically.
Jorg - sarcasm requires intelligence, clearly lacking in her case.
Dirk: Just for the record: For a claim like that to be taken seriously, requires someone with greater intellect than her.
Jorg - are you even married?
What a childish response.
Don't worry LittleFoot, Jorg actually always answers his own questions without even knowing it.
