Have the people who want to Save Bay Meadows considered the question, "What are they saving it for?" Do they want to save the building? Do they want to save racing? They seem very clear about saving a relic from the past. What do they intend to do with it after they have saved it? How do they intend for it to keep operating in the present? Somehow, that never gets discussed.
All over the State, racetracks are closing unless they embrace other means of gambling. San Mateo has already decided by a vote of the people that they do not want slot machines at Bay Meadows. Californians have already decided by a vote of the people that they do not want slot machines at racetracks. So what would a vote of the people decide next that has not already been decided by a vote of the people?
