Editor,
I disagree with the letter from Neil Wild on “Federal Reserve Chairman Powell anti-Trump bias!”
First, I do not see a problem with Powell’s decision to apply basic economics sense to contain inflation and to ensure the fiscal stability and soundness of America’s financial system. I disagree with Wild’s assumption that Powell is “allowing his personal feelings to fog his judgment … and is a Trump hater.” There is a federal board of governors who work with Powell to set policy and use financial analyses of domestic and international economic developments, regulate Federal Reserve banks, the nation’s payment system, and consumer credit protection laws, among other duties to ensure America is a well managed and responsible world-class nation.
For a Trump-appointed chairman, Powell has done a great job albeit he doesn’t hold a Ph.D. in economics or finance. He is a Princeton graduate and Georgetown University J.D. law degree holder. He is known as a consensus-builder and problem solver. Today, chaos and capricious tariffs and unconstitutional actions are being committed by the Trump administration. We deserve a Federal Reserve chair who is independent and not a “yes” person who kowtows and obeys every whimsical wish of the president.

Folks, it appears the Democrat bat signal came out and today’s topic is a Democrat talking point about Trump vs. Powell. Mr. Amistad has highlighted an issue that may remind us why Powell isn’t doing a good job. Perhaps Powell would do a decent job by holding a Ph.D. in economics or finance. BTW, don’t Democrats think it would be better if Powell does what Trump wants, and that way, Trump owns it? Because the way it is now, as long as Powell remains, Trump has an easy victim to blame if things don’t go right and thus, Trump is fully exonerated from his economic decisions.
