I wrote a letter to San Mateo Daily Journal Sept. 15, pointing out the hypocrisy of folks like John Kerry and Al Gore, who advocate taking away our light bulbs, our gas stoves, our electric fans, our gas-powered cars and trucks, among other things, yet never squeaked a peep about abolishing their own luxury, fuel-guzzling private jets.
In a response, letter writer, Cory David (Sept. 18) invoked Donald Trump’s private jet, equating that to Gore and Kerry’s actions. He then called me a hypocrite. Perhaps, before calling anyone a hypocrite, Mr. David needs to rethink his logic. Donald Trump never advocated confiscating these necessities from hardworking common men and women. Kerry and Gore and their ilk, absolutely, unequivocally did advocate their confiscation. That is the crucial difference between the private jets of Mr. Kerry and Mr. Trump. That is hypocrisy, Mr. David.
Another letter writer, (Sept. 19) Mr. Irv Brenner, was also critical of my point. It was hard to know what Mr. Brenner was trying to say, besides labeling Donald Trump a “post-birth abortion.” But he never refuted my point: Namely, that Gore and Kerry and their global warming warrior elitist friends, revel in their self-righteous, self-indulgent, jet fueled hypocrisy. Yes, hypocrisy.
Thanks for your letter, Mr. Abramson. Nobody pushing this global warming thing is willing to do anything to reduce their carbon footprint. We had a recent contributor handing out “get out of jail free cards” to explain why countries and the hypocrites you describe burn fossil fuels to their hearts desires. To wit, countries must burn fossil fuels for economic reasons and greenies need to fly around the globe, polluting as much as they want to get their “fossil fuels bad” message across. No response on the fact that these get out of jail free cards can be used by everyone, since fossil fuels are the most reliable and plentiful source of energy, or that Zoom uses much less fossil fuels than luxury, fuel-guzzling private jets. It appears hypocrisy gets a pass, or a card.
