Editor,
Jorg Aadahl in his letter “Extra years for Trump?” in the May 7 edition of the Daily Journal fondly remembers the good ol’ days when Barack Obama was president.
He thinks another eight years of President Obama in the White House would leave our country in “much better shape,” and that such an extended stay in the Oval Office would produce positive outcomes. Maybe. Under another eight years of President Obama’s guidance, perhaps the Executive Branch could stop agencies like the NSA from spying on Americans, ensure IRS treatment of nonprofit organizations is fair, prevent schemes like the ATF’s “Fast and Furious” debacle, change the VA’s leadership so vital services could be provided to vets, get Americans off food stamps and back to work, stop deals like Solyndra, make sure health care costs don’t rise dramatically and allow people to keep their doctors, develop protocol to enforce foreign policy red lines in places like Syria, restructure the Iran nuclear deal and make sure Americans in places like Benghazi are protected.
Is Jorg suggesting things would be better if the Obama administration had a chance to fix the problems created between 2009 and 2017? If so, Jorg will want to add one more thing to the list, and that would be to stop Russian interference in our elections. Remember: Barack was president when Putin’s minions hacked the DNC and flooded American social media with stories and ads meant to cause acrimony and divisiveness among voters.
