California should consider succeeding from the Union. Eleven states succeeded from the Union before the Civil War. California (and, possibly Washington and Oregon, should do the same. California brings one of the most robust economies in the world (fourth or fifth largest economy) and can stand on its own. Why should we send our federal tax dollars to D.C. to support the states that hate all we stand for? California voters were 60% in favor of Harris, so the percentages are there to pull this off. Enough!
That’s just crazy talk but I’d say go for it, Ms. Regan, in attempting to secede (not succeed) from the Union. I predict you’d fail. However, you can take a look at the recent election map for California and perhaps you’d have a better chance having mostly coastal cities (the majority of the 60%) secede from California. I predict that the costs of electricity and other natural resources will increase considerably for that cohort and I’d recommend a toll, and tariffs, for anyone going east, say across Interstate 5.
