Margaret Matilda Hooker (Silva), born May 11, 1928, died Jan. 31, 2014.
Margaret Hooker was born as Marguerite Matilda Silva in Oakland, Calif. She was the daughter of Benjamin and Gertrude Silva. She married Arthur Henry Hooker in February 1952. Margaret is survived by her brother Joseph Silva, her daughter Karen Small, sons Arthur and Phillip Hooker, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Margaret was raised in Redwood City, Calif., and lived with her family in Menlo Park, Calif., for more than 50 years. Margaret graduated from Sequoia High School in 1946. She worked at Borden’s Creamery, the telephone company as an operator and for Mersch and Associates as an accountant.
While raising her own children she baby-sat other children in her home and later in life she worked for a local preschool. Marge, as she was known to most, was always quick with a joke, loved to play games, knit, crochet, bowl and square dance. Marge will be sorely missed.
