John K. Dumanske died at home surrounded by his loving family May 18, 2017, at age 56.
A resident of Redwood City since 1990 (and formerly of Sonoma County), John lived an active life through his teaching at Menlo-Atherton High School, worship at Redeemer Lutheran Church and Woodside Road United Methodist Church, and service through the Peace Corps and ICYE.
John was a beloved husband, father, son, friend, disciple, cousin and colleague. John bravely fought cancer for two and a half years before surrendering to its debilitating effects. John is survived by his wife Lisa Hicks-Dumanske and children Sara and Liam Dumanske.
“His kindness, humor, intellect and unconditional love will be missed and live on through all those he touched.”
A Celebration of Life will be 2 p.m. Saturday, June 17, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Redwood City, California. Contributions in memory of John may be sent to the Peninsula Open Space Trust to ensure that the outdoors is preserved for future generations and cyclists.
