Jeanette Thompson House, 83, died peacefully in her sleep Dec. 2, 2018, in Redwood City, California.
Jeanette was born at home in beautiful Mena, Arkansas, on Feb. 5, 1935, to James and Faye Thompson. Jeanette enjoyed life on the farm, developing a lifelong love of nature. Jeanette was devoted to her family and helped raise younger sisters Jimmie Lou and Barbara. In 1943, they moved to Hayward, California.
Jeanette became the first in her family to graduate from high school, continuing until she earned a master’s degree in English from San Jose State College. Jeanette shared her love of learning by teaching elementary and middle school students across four decades.
In 1954, Jeanette married Robert House and they had two children during their 30 years together. A resident of Foster City, California, Jeanette spent her summers traveling America, visiting all 50 states and many countries.
Jeanette is survived by her sons Richard and James, by her sister Barbara and by her grandchildren Heather and Logan. Jeanette was buried near her parents and her sister, Jimmie Lou, at a graveside service at Chapel of the Chimes Memorial Park in Hayward, California.
