Bill "Swanee” Swan Jr. died peacefully at home Oct. 22 surrounded by friends and family.
Born on Sept. 25, 1934, Bill lived most of his life in the Bay Area. He attended Bellarmine and Washington State University and co-founded a number of successful companies, including Lee, Swan and Co., Bay Area Felt and The Distinguished Speaker Series of Southern California. A veteran of the U.S. Army, Bill volunteered with I.H.M. Church, Little League, Bobby Sox, AYSO and various professional organizations. Bill, an avid golfer, was a longtime member of the California Golf Club and the San Mateo branch of the Sirs group.
Bill will continue to be deeply loved by his surviving wife of 53 years, Dee Swan, his four children, Kathy Swan Winterhalder, Sue Swan, Mike Swan and Julie Swan Rorabough, his beautiful four granddaughters, and his sister, Joanne Swan.
Friends are invited to attend a 10 a.m. funeral mass with a Rosary at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 28 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 1040 Alameda de las Pulgas in Belmont. Arrangements handled by Crippen & Flynn Carlmont Chapel.
