A Tesla sedan sits damaged at a residence on the 300 block of Thatcher Lane in Foster City Sunday. The 29-year-old female driver allegedly traveled at a high rate of speed before crashing through a backyard fence and through the side of the home and coming to rest after colliding with a light pole in the front yard.
A woman was hospitalized over the weekend after crashing her car into a home in Foster City, police said.
The crash happened on Sunday just after midnight on the 300 block of Thatcher Lane, where the Tesla sped through a backyard fence and slammed into the side of a house before stopping against a light pole in the front yard, according to the Foster City Police Department.
The 29-year-old driver was found sitting on the ground near the wrecked vehicle and appeared to be in emotional and physical distress, police said. She suffered abrasions and a collarbone injury and was taken to a hospital for evaluation.
Officers determined she was experiencing a mental health crisis and was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Three people were asleep inside the home at the time of the crash but were not injured. City building inspectors were called to check the home’s structural safety.
