The latest update to San Bruno’s parking meter comedy of errors is the City Council’s rejection of an ad hoc parking subcommittee, it decided at a meeting Dec. 10.

This follows a special City Council meeting in November where Police Chief Ryan Johansen presented long-awaited information on the meters and staff were directed to follow up on a variety of potential solutions to widespread meter-related concerns.

The bigger question is how much all of this “problem-solving” has cost taxpayers? Another $1 million? Who is taking the hit for all of these issues? We know San Bruno already blew $4 million for the initial installation? We never knew what the estimated ROI was but we all know that the ROI will now take longer due to these expenditures. Of course, that’s assuming there ever is an ROI for San Bruno taxpayers.

The program is a failure, accept that and scrap it. Then, advertise the No Parking Fees, people will come back to downtown.
