The Citizens for a Better Burlingame's "$32 Solution" to help fund the school has passed the $24,000 mark, partly because of a recent $2,500 check presented by the Burlingame Lions Club. The idea behind the $32 Solution program is that if 1,000 families donated $32, then the $32,000 needed to fund the program would be found. The school district needs the money after city officials decided they could no longer afford to fund it.

Former Belmont Mayor George Metropulos is a big fan of the new dollar store in town. He likes it so much, new Mayor Dave Warden gave Metropulos a gift certificate Tuesday night during the council reorganization meeting.
Councilwoman Coralin Feiebach, not a dollar store fan, gave Metropulos a box of Godiva chocolates instead of something from the "dive store." The gifts kept coming ... former council contender George Kranen delivered a bumper sticker to Metropulos that read "It's too bad the people who know how to run the country are busy teaching class."
