Malcolm "Nappy" McNaughton, board member of the Sequoia Healthcare District, got his nickname when his grandfather started calling him Napolean after he was born. Grandpa McNaughton already had two granddaughters and was excited to finally have a grandson.

Supervisor Jerry Hill was in the audience when the San Mateo City Council voted to extend the language of Measure H - which caps building heights at 55 feet or about four stories - earlier this week. Many say Hill was elected to the City Council in large part because of his role in crafting the original measure.
Earlier, San Mateans for Responsive Government were drawing battle lines in the sand when the City Council considered tweaking the ordinance to allow for taller growth in designated areas.

Hill pulled some strings to get New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady to appear at the fourth annual Dads County Breakfast and Family Friendly Employer Award this year. Brady will appear with his father Tom Sr. and his sister Maureen. The event will be Friday, July 9 at the Hotel Sofitel in Redwood Shores.

Tom Marriscolo worked with the Burlingame Police Department for 30 years before becoming the chief deputy coroner for San Mateo County. Robert Hood, the director of media relations at Cañada College, had a past life as a journalist before moving into higher education.
No wonder the two are so good at handling reporters.
