The Port of Redwood City ended 2025 with strong financial measures, maritime achievement and a wealth of community engagement events and efforts made throughout the year.
“The Port’s ongoing commitment to operational excellence, strong stakeholder relationships and vibrant waterfront events continues to shape its positive regional impact,” a press release read.
Reflecting consistent revenue growth since 2020, the Port of Redwood City ended the recent fiscal year with $10.7 million in gross revenue, according to the release.
The port managed 1.4 million metric tons of cargo, which is a decrease from 2024, and is attributed to rocky market conditions, tariff uncertainty and the slowdown of construction altogether. High costs of development has slowed the sector down in recent years, which has, in turn, affected the imports and exports out of the port.
Despite these challenges, the revenue growth reflects the efforts of the Port of Redwood City staff and ability to optimize its cargo. The port saw a 5% in revenue from the year prior.
“Despite changes in the supply chain, we remain dedicated to being an economic engine for the region,” Kristine Zortman, executive director of the Port of Redwood City, said in a press release.

The success of the port in 2025 went beyond finances according to the press release.
In 2025, the Port of Redwood City received an award for its annual drone show. The event held in May was pirate themed, and the drone show was honored as an innovative event for community engagement that was inclusive and environmentally sustainable as an alternative to fireworks.
The annual PortFest is another event that has continuously drawn crowds. The event not only gave residents an opportunity to enjoy music, eat good food and take in the waterfront, but it also educated them on the Port’s operations, the press release said.
The port also hosted “Lunch and Learn” events to connect elected and appointed officials, business and community leaders and community members to learn about the maritime industry. Discussions were held regarding the port's role leading the West Coast supply chain and strengthening the local economy, Zortman said in the release.
“Overall, the Port spearheaded 2025 with a strategic mindset, connecting the broader San Mateo County region to international markets through our cargo operations,” Zortman said. “We look forward to carrying its success and impact in the year ahead.”
