Redwood City police are investigating two cases that occurred over the weekend, a shooting and an unattended death, the department said Wednesday.
On Saturday just before midnight, police received a report of a gunshot victim who arrived at a local emergency room. Officers went to the hospital and spoke with the victim, a 20-year-old man from Redwood City.
The man told investigators that he was sitting in a vehicle when he was shot by an unknown suspect. Though he told police it happened in Redwood City, the exact location of the shooting has not yet been determined, police said. The man was treated for the gunshot wound and is expected to survive.
On Sunday at about 2:30 a.m., officers responded to a report of an unconscious person in the 1900 block of Broadway. A man was found lying in the driveway of a sublevel parking structure with obvious head trauma, the department said. First responders arrived and he was declared deceased at the scene.
According to police, there is a strong likelihood that the man fell from the ground level to the lower level of the parking garage entrance, but his death remains under investigation.
Anyone who may have helpful information for either of these cases is encouraged to contact the Redwood City Police Department at (650) 780-7100.
