The San Mateo-Foster City Elementary School District accepted the resignation of the assistant superintendent of student services and approved the replacement Wednesday.
Susan Silver's resignation comes after three years of work on the board. While only three of the five school board members were in attendance at the meeting, all expressed their reluctance to accept the resignation and their appreciation for her work. Her resignation is effective Oct. 1.
Filling Silver's position will be Dr. Joan Rosas, director of instruction for the district.
Superintendent Pendery Clark noted Rosas' long record with the district including holding an assistant principal position and helping open up Fiesta Gardens International Elementary. Clark described Rosas as "an extremely bright, conscientious and totally devoted," before recommending her for the position.
"It's a deep honor for me to be recommended for this. I'm very well aware of the projects we're working on. I want to be very supportive of our staff and our community projects," Rosas said.
The board approved Rosas for the position. She starts Oct. 1.
