Sen. Jackie Speier, D-San Mateo, says the state Senate passed her bill that would crack down on dietary supplements like Metabolife and it is now on to Gov. Gray Davis who can sign it into law.
The bill would require specified clear and conspicuous warning labels on the products, prohibit sales to minors and provide a toll free number for the Federal Drug Administration on the label so that adverse health effects can be reported to the proper authorities, according to Speier.
