• Karyl Matsumoto was named mayor during the South San Francisco City Council’s annual rotation, held Tuesday, Dec. 12. Councilman Rich Garbarino was named vice mayor and former mayor Liza Normandy departed after not seeking re-election. New Councilwoman Flor Nicolas and Councilman Mark Nagales were sworn in to their first terms, while Councilman Mark Addiego was sworn into another term following his re-election. Former councilman Pradeep Gupta departed after losing his bid for re-election.
• The Redwood City Council welcomed two newly elected members, Giselle Hale and Diana Reddy, at a ceremony Monday. Ian Bain will remain mayor for another year and Diane Howard will also continue to serve as vice mayor; Redwood City has two-year terms for those positions. Jeff Gee and John Seybert are no longer on the council as neither sought re-election.
• The Belmont City Council selected Davina Hurt to be mayor and named Warren Lieberman vice mayor. Doug Kim will remain on the council after serving as mayor this year.
