City government
· Foster City Council candidates Pam Frisella and John Kiramis obtained enough nomination signatures and filed the proper paperwork to qualify for the November ballot. Art Kiesel and Charles Freeman have pulled papers, but are not yet qualified.
Special district
· The Sequoia Healthcare District will discuss its response to two grand jury reports issued earlier this year regarding special districts in San Mateo County and whether the district is representing the best interest of residents.
The district is improving its financial reporting to adhere to recommendation in the first grand jury report.
The district has also started regular newsletters and created a new Web site in response to the second grand jury report recommendation for better communication with residents. The board meets 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 3 in the Sequoia Room at Sequoia Hospital, 170 Alameda de las Pulgas, Redwood City.
