A felon was arrested in Half Moon Bay this weekend after deputies allegedly recovered a ghost gun, an extended magazine and illegal drugs, the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office said Monday.
On Sunday at approximately 11:45 p.m., deputies observed a vehicle on the 100 block of San Mateo Road in Half Moon Bay with an allegedly expired registration. A traffic stop was executed and deputies discovered that the car’s passenger was on probation, making the vehicle subject to a legal search, the Sheriff’s Office said.
During the search, 33-year-old Scott Campbell Jr. of Chino was allegedly found to be in possession of an un-serialized “ghost” gun, an extended magazine, several live rounds of ammunition, suspected methamphetamine, syringes, a glass pipe, gun parts and accessories. As a felon, Campbell is barred from being in possession of these things.
Campbell was arrested and booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm, ammunition and an extended magazine; being in possession of narcotics and a firearm, with two or more priors; being in possession of a firearm without a serial number and possession of narcotics paraphernalia.
