Police: 5 injured after cab driver runs light SAN FRANCISCO -- San Francisco police say they will test a taxi driver for drugs and alcohol after he ran a red light, causing a chain-reaction crash that sent five people to the hospital. Witnesses told police that the cab ran the light at a busy downtown intersection Monday afternoon and struck a PT Cruiser. The PT Cruiser spun out and hit two pedestrians while the cab became wedged between a fire hydrant and a building. Police said the two pedestrians, two people from the PT Cruiser and the cab driver were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No names were released. San Francisco police spokesman Officer Samson Chan said investigators were awaiting the test results before deciding whether to cite the driver. Antioch baby dies after left in car overnight ANTIOCH -- Antioch police say a 7-month-old girl died after being left inside the family car overnight. The death of Sofia Wisher is under investigation, but authorities say it appears to be a tragic accident. According to police, Sofia's parents drove home with the child in the car around 11:30 p.m. Saturday, and each parent thought the other had taken the baby out of the car seat. The father drove to the gym the next morning, still not knowing Sofia was in the car. The father called police around 2 p.m. Sunday from the gym's parking lot. The child was pronounced dead at the scene. Lt. Leonard Orman says police have found nothing to indicate that the death resulted from ongoing negligence, but the couple's 2-year-old has been placed into protective custody pending the investigation.
