The woman accused of swindling more than $140,000 from an elderly widower was ordered to stand trial and has yet to make bail after a judge raised the amount by $100,000.
Gina Costello, 41, was expected to post her $300,000 bail after multiple supporters came forward with pieces of the total. However, Judge Steven Dylina, raised the bail to $400,000 and Costello remains in custody at the San Mateo County Jail.

Costello's bail has bounced up and down since her arrest as her attorney argued for its reduction and prosecutor Melissa McKowan insisted she is flight risk. The hefty bail amount is far above the scale typically used in financial elder abuse cases but is less than the $500,000 bond first requested following her arrest. Prosecutors asked for the high amount out of fear Costello could easily post a smaller amount and has a prior failure to appear out of Florida. However, during a conference last week Judge Jack Grandsaert allowed its reduction with the caveat that any money posted not be financed at all from the money she allegedly took or any other
