Six people were displaced early Tuesday morning after a fire tore through a two-story home in Daly City, authorities said.
The blaze broke out around 12:53 a.m. on Hanover Street, according to the North County Fire Authority. Crews arrived to find heavy smoke and flames pouring from the single-family residence.
Firefighters searched the home and found no one inside. The residents had evacuated safely before crews arrived. The American Red Cross is assisting those displaced, fire officials said.
The fire caused major damage to the house, and crews stayed on scene for more than four hours to check for hot spots and conduct salvage operations. No injuries were reported.
Investigators determined the blaze was accidental, caused by improperly discarded smoking materials.
