A little girl who was allegedly kidnapped by a relative in San Francisco has been found safe, police said.
On Tuesday, officers responded to the 1100 block of Mission Street at approximately 1:30 a.m. regarding a report of a possible kidnapping.
Officers arrived on scene and met with the father of a 4-year-old girl named Fatima Abuzahra. The investigation determined that Abuzahra was allegedly taken from her home by a relative, Enas Birawi, without the father’s knowledge or consent.
A citywide search for the victim and suspect was carried out by San Francisco Police, and by 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, officers located Abuzahra and Birawi, along with Birawi’s 8-year-old son, on the 1500 block of Lombard Street.
Police said all appeared to be in good physical health. Birawi was reunited with her father and he was also given custody of the 8-year-old child.
Birawi was arrested on suspicion of felony kidnapping and child endangerment, according to police.
This remains an open and active investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at (415) 575-4444 or text a tip to TIP411 and begin the message with SFPD.
