Popular History Professor Michael Svanevik of the College of San Mateo presents "Buried by the Government: From the Halls of Montezuma to the Rocky Hills of Afghanistan — The Final Resting Place of Soldiers.” The event takes place 2 p.m. Sunday at the Cypress Lawn Reception Center, second floor, 1370 El Camino Real, Colma. Persian New Year celebration
Celebrate Persian New Year at the San Mateo Library Sunday from 1:15 p.m. to 4 p.m. This festival of a rebirth of nature, happiness, peace and love includes light refreshments and socializing, traditional music by the Ebrahami brothers, dance by the Beshkan Dance Academy and arts and crafts for children. Seating is limited to 125 guests. RSVP by calling 522-7802. The event is generously supported by the Iranian-American Library Advisory Committee, the Persian American Society, the San Mateo Public Library Foundation and the San Mateo County Association of Realtors Foundation.
