Josh O’Connor usually hates watching his movies for the first time. ‘Disclosure Day’ was different
Josh O’Connor says working with Steven Spielberg on “Disclosure Day” was surreal. The British actor, known for playing Prince Charles in “The Crown,” felt like he was living a dream on set. The film, which opens June 12, is said to answer questions from “Close Encounters of the Third Kind.” O’Connor plays a cybersecurity expert with a mysterious connection to Emily Blunt’s character. He describes Spielberg as having an infectious energy and excitement. O’Connor shared a humorous story about a text from Spielberg that unintentionally helped him with a scene. The film’s plot remains mostly under wraps.

Taylor Swift files 3 new trademark applications. One expert says it is to curb AI threats
NEW YORK (AP) — Taylor Swift filed three new trademark applications with the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office Friday. A legal expert theorizes it is to protect her voice and image from potential misuse through artificial intelligence. Two of the applications are sound trademarks covering her voice. One is of her saying “Hey, it’s Taylor Swift.” The other is “Hey, it’s Taylor.” And the third application is a visual trademark, a photograph of Swift on stage holding a pink guitar. Intellectual property attorney Josh Gerben theorized that the trademarks are “specifically designed to protect Taylor from threats posed by artificial intelligence.” Swift has been a target of AI misuse in the past.

Weinstein rape accuser tells jury that 'he just treated me like he owned me'
NEW YORK (AP) — The woman at the center of Harvey Weinstein’s repeatedly retried rape case has told jurors for the third time that the former Hollywood honcho trapped her in a New York hotel room and assaulted her in 2013. Jessica Mann testified through sobs Tuesday that she repeatedly said no, and she tried to leave the room, but in her words, “he just treated me like he owned me.” Weinstein looked on steadily in court as she spoke. He denies the allegation. His lawyers haven’t yet had their chance to question Mann at this retrial but have argued that everything that happened between the two was consensual.

Defying protocol, Trump relays details of private conversation with King Charles III
LONDON (AP) — In the world of diplomatic faux pas it could have been a lot worse. U.S. President Donald Trump said at Tuesday’s state dinner honoring King Charles III and Queen Camilla that during a private meeting earlier in the day the British monarch had agreed with him that Iran should never be allowed to have nuclear weapons. Many Britons would agree with the president’s sentiment. But the comment triggered mild consternation among pundits in the U.K. By convention people aren't supposed to relay private conversations with the monarch. That is partly because the king has to remain above the political fray. But it's also because the sovereign doesn’t have the ability to wade into a public debate and correct the record if he's misquoted.
WNBA star Caitlin Clark to publish a children's book based on her life
NEW YORK (AP) — Caitlin Clark is releasing a picture book this fall based on her life. Random House Books for Young Readers has announced Tuesday that “EXTRAordinary! A Little EXTRA to Reach BIG Dreams” will be published in November. The WNBA star shares a message about the importance of effort and support through rhyming verse. Clark was inspired by a quote from her childhood mirror that read: “The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is the little EXTRA.” She hopes the book reminds children that they’re never alone in chasing their dreams. The 24-year-old Indiana Fever guard recently returned to playing after injuries limited her in 2025.

Movie Review: A flatulence-filled 'Animal Farm' for tots turns a masterpiece into cinematic manure
The new animated "Animal Farm" takes a radical departure from George Orwell's classic. Screenwriter Nicholas Stoller and director Andy Serkis have transformed the allegory into a bright, modern tale, complete with iPhones and sports cars, says Associated Press critic Mark Kennedy in his review. The film introduces new characters and muddies the focus from anti-totalitarianism to a critique of Big Corporatization. Despite an all-star voice cast, including Seth Rogen and Laverne Cox, the adaptation feels misguided, Kennedy says. It ends with a "Mission: Impossible"-style caper, straying far from Orwell's original message. The movie, rated PG, releases Friday.
