Kayla Lichaa had a big day on both sides of the ball as she helped lead the Bearcats to the massive upset of the Vikings.
Lichaa was 16-for-20 passing for 104 yards and three touchdown passes, while also rushing for 54 more yards. On defense, she came up with three pass deflections.
San Mateo improves to 3-3, while Mills suffered its first PAL loss of the season and falls to 5-1 and into a second-place tie with Burlingame.
Burlingame 20, Capuchino 18
Haleh Ansari’s pick-6 late in the second half led the Panthers past the Mustangs.
Burlingame improves to 5-1 and stays a game behind undefeated Carlmont. Capuchino falls to 4-2.
Menlo-Atherton 20, Woodside 19
Bears’ quarterback Mae Kunihiro threw three touchdown passes to help M-A slip past the Wildcats.
M-A improves to 3-3, while Woodside falls to 3-3.
Hillsdale 36, Terra Nova 7
The Knights cruised to the victory, but Bonnie Barrango had the Tigers’ first pick-6 of the season to account for their scoring.
Hillsdale moves to 3-3 in PAL play, while Terra Nova drops to 1-5.

Carlmont (6-0) continues to sit atop the PAL standings after beating Sequoia (1-5), 26-13.
Aragon (2-4) shut out Jefferson (0-6), 28-0.
Boys’ water polo
Woodside 12, Carlmont 9
The Wildcats held off the Scots to set up a showdown for first place with undefeated Menlo-Atherton Thursday.
Julian Hill notched a hat trick for Woodside (6-1 PAL Bay, 9-1 overall), while Wildcats goalie Calvin Pfeffer finished with three saves.
Carlmont (2-6) was led offensively by Eli Samon, who scored three times.
Sequoia 18, Hillsdale 12
AJ McDonald had a monster game to keep the Ravens’ hopes alive to challenge for a Bay Division title.
McDonald scored seven goals and assisted on eight other to have a hand in 15 of the Ravens’ 18 goals. Derek Hymer added six goals for Sequoia.
Sequoia (5-2 PAL Bay, 9-3 overall) is in third place, a game behind second-place Woodside and two games behind division-leading M-A. The Ravens lost to both teams during the first round of PAL play.

Woodside 18, Carlmont 7
The Wildcats are in position to challenge for the PAL Bay Division lead after rolling past the Scots.
Megan Hohl tallied six goals for Woodside, while Kate Stevenson scored a hat trick and won three of four sprints to start each period.
Woodside (5-1 PAL Bay, 9-3 overall) stays one game behind first-place Menlo-Atherton, with the teams slated to face off Thursday afternoon at Woodside.
Terra Nova 14, Half Moon Bay 6
In a coastside rivalry match, the Tigers completed the season sweep of the Cougars.
Jaeda Allen scored six times to lead Terra Nova (2-4 PAL Bay).
Half Moon Bay falls to 0-8 in Bay play.
Girls’ golf
South City 227, Half Moon Bay 261
Renee Chu and Jollyn Gunardi both carded rounds of 40 lead the Warriors past the Cougars on the par-29 Half Moon Bay Golf Links Course.
Angelina Gloria added a 43 for South City, while Ashley Lau had a 48.
HMB was led by Mackenzie Cheney, Guadalupe Villanueva and Jennifer Mendez Cortez, who all finished with 51s.
Carlmont 221, Hillsdale 298
Tessa Lee carded a 4-over 41 to help lead the Scots to the win over the Knights on the par-37 back nine at Peninsula Golf and Country Club in San Mateo.
Ellie Moholm added a 44 for Carlmont, while Dakota Chang and Kara Kim had rounds of 48 and 49, respectively.
Girls’ tennis
Menlo-Atherton 4, San Mateo 3
In a makeup of a heat-related postponement, the Bears slipped past the Bearcats in a PAL Bay Division match.
Tessa Ellington continues her dominant play at No. 1 singles for M-A (4-3 PAL Bay), notching another 6-0, 6-0 victory. Marrisa Hou, at No. 3 singles, also won at love for the Bears, while No. 4 singles Adelene Soltys won 6-1, 6-1.
In doubles play, all three matches went three set. San Mateo’s No. 1 singles team of Francesca Wesley and Tatum Fritts rallied from a set down to post a 1-6, 6-4, 10-4 victory. The Bearcats’ No. 3 doubles team of Micha Sharma and Paige Leung also came back from down a set, to win 3-6, 6-4, 10-4.
But M-A secured the win with a three-set victory at No. 2 doubles, where Parmis Hoghooghi and Yara Sadrzadeh rallied back from down a set to post a 4-6, 7-6(4), 10-4 victory to clinch the match for the Bears.
San Mateo falls to 2-6 in division play.
