Colin Kryger and Peter Koren, Menlo-Atherton boys’ lacrosse. The Bears finished out a legendary season, with Kryger and Koren running neck-and-neck as the top scorers in the program’s history. M-A opened play in the CCS boys’ lacrosse championships with a 12-6 win over Stevenson-Pebble Beach last Friday, the team’s program-best 20th win of the year. Kryger is currently the program’s all-time leading scorer with 174 career goals and, as a junior, should get the chance to add to that total next year. For the time being, however, Koren, a senior, has a chance to catch him, with 172 career goals to his credit. The team suits up again Wednesday in the CCS semifinals.
Juliana Bazlamit, El Camino softball. The sophomore closed out a spectacular year at the plate for the Lady Colts with back-to-back three-hit games. Bazlamit went 3 for 4 in a 10-6 loss to Half Moon Bay, then followed that up with a 3-for-3 line with three doubles and an RBI in Elco’s 10-6 victory over rival South City to close out the year. Bazlamit will now carry a nine-game hitting streak into next season, and finishes the 2024 campaign with a .721 batting average, good for the Peninsula Athletic League Ocean Division batting crown, the best batting average throughout the PAL, and the sixth-best average in the Central Coast Section, among teams that report statistics to MaxPreps.com.
Luca Scatena and Dylan Kall, Burlingame baseball. The two seniors combined to help the Panthers to their first PAL Bay Division title since 2012. Kall, a senior first baseman had a two-out, bases-loaded double in the top of the seventh to drive in two runs to give Burlingame a 3-2 lead over Capuchino. Scatena, a senior right-handed pitcher, who was staring at hard-luck loss, took the mound in the bottom of the seventh and locked down the win. He held Capuchino to two runs on just four hits.
Sofia Kwan, Mills softball. The junior second baseman helped the Vikings to a 3-0 week, as she reached base nine times and drove in three runs. Her biggest contribution came in an Ocean Division, title-clinching win over Menlo-Atherton. Kwan reached base in four at-bats, with two hits, including a double, a walk and a hit by pitch. She also drove in two runs. She was 3 for 4 with a walk and RBI in a 19-9 win over King’s Academy and drew a walk and scored a run in a 12-3 win over Half Moon Bay.
Edan Cui, Crystal boys’ golf. The junior, who missed the bulk of the season as he recovered from a knee injury, carded the lowest score among the two flights of CCS regional rounds to qualify for Tuesday’s championship round. Cui shot a 2-under 69 to win the afternoon regional.

Allison Lui, Notre Dame-Belmont softball. The Tigers closed out their regular-season slate with four games in four days, but the busy schedule seems to serve them well. NDB won all four games, and Lui was pivotal in all of them. In the circle, she went 3-0 in three appearances, including a season-high 12 strikeouts in last Thursday’s 7-4 win over Mercy-Burlingame in the regular-season finale. At the plate, the junior recorded three straight multi-hit games for the first time in her varsity career, going 7 for 13 with two doubles, seven RBIs and a home run in the finale against Mercy.
Gabriel Martin, South City baseball. The junior third baseman had a big game in the Warriors’ Lake Division, title-clinching win over Priory. He went 3 for 3 with a double and drove in three runs in a 6-4 win. In an 8-1 win over the Panthers two days before, he scored three runs and collected an RBI.
Jarod Nunnemaker, Aragon boys’ track and field. It took an extra couple of days, but the senior finally captured the PAL pole vault title. The event was delayed because of heavy rains during the PAL track and field championships May 4, moving the event to Monday. Nunnemaker won the event, clearing 14-6.
Isaac Gradek, Design Tech baseball. The junior helped hit and pitch the Dragons to their first PSAL championship. In a 2-1, title-clinching win over More, Gradek went 2 for 4 with an RBI. He then came on to lock down the save in relief of Eddy Lee, who had allowed one run through six innings.
Audrey Chung and Edana Huang, Woodside girls’ swimming. The two seniors helped Woodside to 26th place out of 86 schools at the CIF Swimming and Diving Championships. Both qualified to Saturday’s championship and both swam in a “A” final. Chung finished seventh in the 50 free with a time of 23.21. She also swam in the “B” final in the 100 free, finishing 12th. Huang was in the “A” final for the 100 fly, finishing sixth. Her time of 54.17 was a new PAL record, as she shaved nearly a second off the record of 55.11 she set at the PAL championships.
