I'd like writing to you because I am outraged as an American resident to learn that 33 American citizens were either arrested at Tiananmen Square during their peaceful appeal for Falun Gong practitioners' human rights or kidnapped in Beijing streets and airport when they were simply walking. All of them were brutally treated by the Chinese police.
Some of the Bay Area Falun Gong practitioners detained in Beijing happened to be my friends, and I know they are good people. My friend Huy Lu, a city surveyor, said that he wasn't even at Tiananmen Square, and he had nothing on his body that was associated with Falun Gong, but he found four to five plain-clothes policemen followed him. So he went to the American embassy to seek protection. However, the CHINESE guard outside of the U.S. embassy turned him away and refused to protect him after the plain-clothes police talked to him in Chinese. Moments later, those policemen kidnapped and beat Huy up on a Beijing street, and dragged him into a police car.
Chun Lee, an American Chinese who immigrated to the United States when she was 2 years old, was kidnapped in the middle of a Beijing street. She was beaten up four times during police custody for doing nothing wrong. The policemen punched her nose, stepped on her face, used her scarf to strangle her and stuffed it into her mouth to suffocate her, kicked her all over, slapped her face, and threw her to the ground. I was so sad to see her show up at the SFO airport with blood in her nose, scratches on her face, and bruises all over her body.
