Editor,

Regarding all the news pertaining to PG&E and the wildfires: I recently heard that some of the cities in California are going to start sending out abatement notices to people with a lot of weeds and brush around their properties. So if they do not cut and clean up their property, the city will abate the weeds and send the property owner the bill. Great idea. This is like closing the gate after the herd has escaped. Had all the cities and counties been doing this right along with PG&E there may not have been casualties and extensive property loss. Hopefully the civic leaders in the rural and populated areas will pass some type of action demanding that the cities and counties start monitoring and demanding that PG&E as well as private property owners abate the tree and vegetation on their properties.
