Rent control always decreases the amount of housing built while increasing rents for the higher cost of building stacked units and the high cost of enlarging roads, utilities, school in existing urban areas. One solution is to provide high-speed transit with the HSR to less expensive housing areas.
Ask your Assembly representative why they didn’t vote to start construction of the HSR from San Francisco where it could now be closer to providing high speed transit to less expensive housing. The answer is the political left wants us “stacked and packed” in urban areas for better political control.
