A team of investigators prepare to enter the crime scene at Avenue Liquors to retrieve two deceased found inside following two-alarm fire Monday morning.
Benigno Nuguid Pare, 56, and Anil Kumar Sharma, 25, were the two individuals who were found dead in a liquor store in Redwood City that caught fire early Monday morning, according to the San Mateo County Coroner’s Office.
The cause of death was not disclosed.
The Redwood City Fire Department responded to a two-alarm fire at Avenue Liquors, located at 3147 Roosevelt Ave., at approximately 5:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 3.
The building was engulfed in flames and, once the crew controlled the blaze, they found two individuals who showed “no sign of life,” according to police.
One of the victims was quickly believed to be Pare, who was known as Benny by Avenue Liquors patrons. Benny was a longtime employee of Avenue Liquors, and many mourned his death on Monday. A GoFundMe was started by Bali Singh, the former owner of the liquor store, to raise funds for Pare’s family.
