While the Sequoia Ravens (2-6 PAL Ocean, 6-12 overall) have had their ups and downs this season, their two top hitters have amassed some serious numbers.
Nisha Mehta
Seniors Jamie Elkington and Nisha Mehta added to those numbers big time Wednesday in the Sequoia’s 17-11 softball win at Notre Dame-San Jose, each homering twice for the first time this year. Elkington was 4 for 5 with a double, two home runs and three RBIs. Mehta went 3 for 4 with a triple, two home runs and six RBIs. Elkington and Mehta each have four homers on the year.
Junior Grace Taylor added a home run, the first of her varsity career.
Mehta has now hit safely in every game this season, and extended her current hitting streak to 36 games, dating back to last season. The NCAA Division I commit to Lehigh University is now leading the Peninsula Athletic League Ocean Division with a .636 batting average. Elkington ranks fourth in the Ocean Division with a .536 average.
NDSJ outhit Sequoia 15-14 in the contest. The Regents (3-6, 11-12) were paced by freshman Estella Martinez’s four hits.
