When I started reading the guest perspective by Congressman Mullin, I expected detailed plans, ideas or at least specific recommendations on how to address the chronic problems in our state — poverty, homelessness, costs of housing, utilities, fraud, etc.
Is this too much to expect from a Congressman?
Instead, however, I read a rather primitive diatribe about our duly elected President and his administration — who are trying to enforce our existing laws, address our trade imbalance, balance our budget and extinguish world conflicts.
There always are people who disagree with the means and methods any administration achieves these goals, but this is why we elected a president and entrusted him the powers of the chief executive officer — so he can execute!
If any actions of the administration are perceived as not allowed by law or Constitution — this is addressed by our judicial system. This is how the principle of “separation of powers” works.
Mr. Mullin asks us to “not look away,” pay attention to the “horrors” of the current administration, vote and encourage everyone to vote for Democrats in 2026.
Why should we?

The previous Democrat administrations brought us skyrocketing inflation, uncontrolled immigration, crime, export of manufacturing jobs overseas and record income inequality.
What did Congressman Mullin do to address these issues? Where are the results?
What did Congressman Mullin do to address specific California issues mentioned above? Where are the results?
No, Mr. Mullin — we won’t look away from these failures of yours.
Very well written, Mr. Fichtenholz, summarizing the failure of Mr. Mullin to do anything useful to benefit the American people. In addition to the facts you’ve provided regarding dismal Democrat administrations, let’s not forget Mr. Mullin voted against the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, essentially voting to increase taxes on everyone, considerably. Let’s not forget Mullin voted against the Laken Riley Act, choosing to promote biological males competing against biological females. Let’s not forget Mullin voted against the SAVE Act, essentially opting to undermine free and fair elections. (I hear Somalia has implemented Voter ID. Yes, Somalia.) Seems to me that Mullin has been against the American people on every major issue.
