Editor,
I would like to publicly acknowledge my sincere thanks to the Belmont Chamber of Commerce for presenting me with the William Chapman Ralston Award for community service; certainly a highlight of my life.
Editor,
I would like to publicly acknowledge my sincere thanks to the Belmont Chamber of Commerce for presenting me with the William Chapman Ralston Award for community service; certainly a highlight of my life.
Also, I would like to thank David Warden, mayor of Belmont, the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors, state Sen. Jackie Speier, D-San Mateo, state Assemblyman Gene Mullin, D-South San Francisco and U.S. Rep. Anna Eshoo, D-Palo Alto, for their kind commendations. It has been my pleasure and privilege to be a part of the lovers of libraries in helping to work toward a new Belmont library. Now that the final steel beam is in place citizens know the dream is becoming a reality. We all look forward to spring 2006 when a grand opening will occur.
We are pleased to acknowledge a generous grant of $5,000 from the Summerhill-Cambridge Development in Belmont and a grant from U.S. Bank. We are most appreciative of several individual recent donations that were over $1,000. As a grass roots fund-raising effort every dollar collected is meaningful. While I had the honor of the Ralston award there are numerous volunteers standing invisibly behind me and I'm grateful to all of them and all the library lovers at work in San Mateo County. We continue in our fund-raising and contributions can go to Friends of Belmont Library, P.O. Box 826, Belmont, Calif.
