County supervisors need to stop pushing Millbrae residents in having La Quinta Inn becoming a shelter for homeless. The recall of Goodman and Cahalan shows politicians who don’t listen to wishes of the majority do not belong in the council.
A year ago, the city manager said the city will receive $540,000 but will cost the city about $168,000 a year in services. County Executive Mike Callagy said the city will be reimbursed for one year with a sheriff deputy and mental health clinician for 2 1/2 years.
So the county is admitting there will be additional law and mental officers needed when La Quinta is converted. The county will reimburse Millbrae for a few years but future costs will be a burden on Millbrae forever.
If this could happen to Millbrae, this could happen to all cities in San Mateo County. Tell the supervisors to stop their authoritative demands.
