In response to Clayton Rich’s letter published July 2, “Sorry, but I’m so discouraged,” no doubt others are feeling as you do after watching the president’s performance in last Thursday’s debate. However, I think it highly likely that you will be given a different choice of candidates to choose from on Nov. 5.
As I’m reading the political tea leaves, I highly suspect that President Biden will announce that he will not seek reelection — it’s just a matter of when, not if. And when he does, I strongly suspect he will endorse Vice President Kamala Harris. The election would then present a “choice” among the major and minor party candidates, and not be a referendum on the incumbent, as I have maintained in my two recent letters: “It’s about Biden,” June 12, and “A misinterpretation,” June 25.
If Biden was truly committed to defeating former President Trump, I would suggest that he go a step further and resign from the presidency for health reasons that were evident during the debate debacle. Harris would stand a much better chance of being elected if the public gets to see how she performs as president prior to Nov. 5. The sooner he resigns, the better would be Harris’ chance, assuming she engages the public better than the current president.
Interesting prediction, Mr. Dawid. But is it as simple as Biden resigning? Sure, Harris would take over now but would she still be the party’s candidate? Harris wouldn’t inherit Biden’s delegates and from what I recall no other Dem candidates received much, if any delegates. Wouldn’t it essentially become a delegate free-for-all for any number of candidates throwing their hat in the ring? And could all this occur in a few months? The devil is in the details and I admit I haven’t paid much attention to the Dem side since my candidate is the best option, Trump.

Democrats made a huge mistake hiding Biden's deficiencies and now it's too late to come up with a viable candidate that could beat Trump.
Absolutely!!!
