Nine years ago, as the state Board of Education was working on a system to inform Californians about what was happening in schools, one of its professional advisors, Nancy Brownell, delivered what she described as a “very brief” summary.

“I have a Ph.D. in education policy and I can barely navigate these sites,” Morgan Polikoff, a USC professor who worked on the report, told CalMatters. “How do we expect a typical parent to access this information and make sense of it?”....

Amen! My experience also!

Thanks for another great article, Mr. Walters. If anyone has a case of the TLDRs, I’d recommend they pay attention to your last paragraph,

“In a rational world, officialdom would see the damning report as a mandate for reform. But California’s education establishment is no more interested in real accountability than it was nine years ago. It much prefers to bury reality in indecipherable jargon.”

So true, and another reason parents wanting better for their kids should look towards private education and not bother with public education.

Not So Common

California is a sanctuary state, and they now have 1.7 million children from illegal immigrants. This number doesn’t even take into account the number of illegal immigrant children who have entered california’s public education system in the last four years. Governor Newsom, and the teachers unions love this because it brings in more funding. The problem is all students get dumbed down, and they don’t get the proper attention they need. The answer is vouchers for all children whose parents are legally in the United States that could be used for public or private education and to start deporting.
