Leila Jensen lived a life devoted to family and friendship. On September 24, 2025, she passed peacefully in her home, at the age of 95.
Leila was born and raised in San Francisco. After marrying the love of her life, Jim, in 1952, they started a family and gradually moved down the Peninsula, finally settling in San Mateo. Leila devoted much of her life to raising their four children and filling her home with love and enjoyment of life.
Leila had many passions. She loved traveling and socializing with friends, exercising, playing golf and cheering on her 49ers. Leila and Jim belonged to many clubs including the San Francisco Golf Club, Burlingame Country Club and Hillsborough Racquet Club in addition to Leila’s beloved Monday Bridge, various book and play reading groups. She treated everyone she encountered with respect and warmth. She was spirited and fun, always stylish and admired by many for maintaining her youthful appearance late into her life.
Above all, the center of Leila’s world was her family. She is survived by Jim Jensen, her husband of 73 years and partner in all things; a son, Jim Jensen Jr. (Deborah) of Manchester, NH; three daughters: Leslie Jensen of Lafayette, CA, Mary Jensen Walsh of Fitchburg, MA, and Susan Graham (Bill) of San Mateo, CA; nine grandchildren who adored her; and six great-grandchildren.
Leila’s memory will live on in the hearts of her family and her surviving friends. Her spirit, authenticity and love will continue to shine brightly in all who were blessed to know her.
