Four people were killed and 10 were wounded in a shooting during a children’s birthday party Saturday night at a banquet hall in Stockton, officials said.
The victims ranged in age from adults to youths in what appeared to be a “targeted shooting,” San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Heather Brent said.
No suspect has been arrested, Brent said.
The shooting was reported shortly before 6 p.m. near the 1900 block of Lucile Avenue in the Sherwoods Manor neighborhood.
Stockton’s Vice Mayor, Jason Lee, said he was “devastated and angry to learn about the mass shooting at a child’s birthday party.”
“Violence touched my life as a young person, and seeing our own children, parents, and neighbors go through this shakes me deeply,” Lee said on social media.

“Our community deserves to know the truth, and the families impacted deserve justice and every resource available to support them,” Lee said.
Anyone with information, video footage, or who may have witnessed any part of the incident is asked to contact the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office.
“Community assistance is vital in helping us identify those responsible and bring justice to the victims and their loved ones,” the Sheriff’s Office said.
Gov. Gavin Newsom’s press office said he had been briefed on the “horrific shooting” in Stockton.
It said the Governor’s Office of Emergency Services was monitoring the situation and coordinating with local law enforcement.
