A Trump administration plan to ask people if they are U.S. citizens during the 2020 census has prompted a legal uproar from Democratic state attorneys general, who argue it could drive down participation and lead to an inaccurate count.

Yet not a single Republican attorney general has sued — not even from states with large immigrant populations that stand to lose if a census undercount of immigrants affects the allotment of U.S. House seats and federal funding for states.

If a people of a nation, through their representatives, decide that immigrants must arrive through a legal process, who is going to say those citizens don't have a right to their decision?

Do foreign nationals decide the fate of a country, or isn't it really that country's decision to make alone?

Now think of the twisted logic commonly used in trying to justify the presence of people here illegally- people who refuse to respect our decisions or our rights.

They think that if they mistreat us enough, call us enough names and make enough outrageous demands on top of what they've already finagled, that we will bend to their will and allow them eventual total control.

They miscalculated. Instead, they're getting a major boomerang effect and deservedly so. We are fed up with this nonsense-- this time it's whining about a country's census of citizens and legal immigrants.

I can only hope that this census drives some illegals back to their own country and encourages them to apply to come join us legally.
