A 37-year-old homeless man charged with four felonies for allegedly making death threats against Sheriff Christina Corpus and one felony and two misdemeanors for assaulting two separate corrections officers will go to trial Sept. 25, San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe said.

The man, James Taylor, 37, allegedly made threats to attack and kill Corpus twice while he was being held in the San Mateo County Jail, according to the DA’s Office. The first was written down by Taylor in a grievance form in October 2024, the DA’s Office said. The second was allegedly made verbally and included specific grievances with Corpus’ alleged homophobic text messages.
