A 24-year-old Redwood City man was arrested Saturday morning in the Pescadero area of San Mateo County after causing a brief shelter-in-place order to be issued by the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office.
Arsenio GonzalezSian was accused of stabbing an acquaintance during a car ride with a group of people when a fight broke out inside the vehicle, according to a statement from the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the report of the stabbing at Bean Hollow Road and Pescadero Creek Road at about 1 a.m. but could not locate GonzalezSian, who the Sheriff’s Office said fled the scene based on witness statements.
The victim was hospitalized with serious injuries and was in stable condition as of Saturday afternoon, the Sheriff’s Office statement said.
The search continued throughout the night, and a warrant was obtained for his arrest.

At about 10 a.m., a carjacking was reported near the scene of the earlier stabbing. The vehicle was quickly found but whoever took it had fled, leading the Sheriff’s Office to issue a shelter-in-place order for the area. The California Highway Patrol also closed a portion of state Highway 1 near Bean Hollow State Beach as the search was underway.
About 15 minutes later, GonzalezSian was found and the shelter order was lifted, and the highway was reopened.
GonzalezSian was booked into San Mateo County Jail on multiple allegations, including attempted homicide.
