A 19-year-old San Jose man was arrested in San Mateo on Saturday night for allegedly driving a stolen vehicle that had a ghost gun in it.
San Mateo police officers allegedly tried to stop the vehicle at about 11 p.m. at South El Camino Real and West 25th Avenue when three people inside fled on foot, according to the San Mateo Police Department.
Two girls did not flee the vehicle and were released to their parents.
The driver, who police identified as Silas Willis, was apprehended during the ensuing foot chase, along with two 16-year-old boys.
A privately manufactured firearm without a serial number, known as a ghost gun, was allegedly recovered from the vehicle, along with a loaded extended magazine cartridge with 23 rounds.
Willis was accused of multiple crimes related to the firearm and stolen vehicle and was booked into San Mateo County Jail.
The 16-year-old boys, a Stockton resident and a San Jose resident, were booked at Hillcrest Juvenile Facility on allegations including possession of a stolen vehicle and being a minor in possession of a firearm.
